Mountain View Voice

The Mountain View Voice was founded in 1992 by two long-time residents of Mountain View who were frustrated with the lack of local news coverage the daily newspapers in San Jose and San Francisco gave their city. With that in mind, they set out to publish a monthly publication in 1992, devoted entirely to coverage of Mountain View.

In May of 1994, they joined forces with the owners of the newspaper serving the adjacent community, the Palo Alto Weekly. Through these expanded resources, the Voice increased its publication frequency to a bi-weekly schedule in June of 1995.

Finally, in April of 1996, the Voice began publishing weekly, giving Mountain View a locally-owned community newspaper for the first time in more than two decades. It is the only newspaper local residents can turn to for information about local government, schools, community news, as well as local arts and entertainment coverage. The Voice now joins the Palo Alto Weekly and the Almanac in providing a package of award winning publications serving the Midpeninsula. The Voice is mailed every Friday to many single-family homes, condos, townhouses and many apartments and businesses in Mountain View.
